Writing Process: Essay 1

1. Draft the essay in class.

2. At home, type the draft as it is, word for word, while correcting only punctuation and spelling errors.

3. At home, use Microsoft Word Editor to identify and correct basic writing issues; there is no need to insert comments at this stage of the editing process.

4. At home (or in class if you have time), modify the 1st paragraph only on the basis of specific comments provided by the teacher in his personal feedback; there is no need to insert comments at this stage of the editing process.

5. At home, perform the final editing step: by yourself (without AI) or by using the permitted AI prompts on Moodle -- follow these rules:

Every single modification, at this stage, must be identified by inserting a comment into the word document. In each comment, clarify the modification that was made and, if you used AI, identify the permitted prompt that was used.

These changes (replacing a word or adding a word) cannot affect more than four words in a given sentence.

Only one sentence per paragraph can be edited beyond four words.

You may delete or remove any word or sentence without having to insert a comment.

If AI suggests words that you don't know how to pronounce, cannot define without a dictionary, or wouldn't typically use, do not use them. Everything you write should sound like you. While using AI for editing suggestions is allowed in my courses, your work should never sound like it was generated by AI. The use of AI should be transparent, blending seamlessly with your voice and authentic writing style.
